The FIRE EXPRESS S concept GG FW is a fairway wood-specific shaft developed by re-evaluating conventional wisdom for players with a head speed of 40m/s or less, who constitute the majority of golfers.
Generally, shafts for golfers with slower head speeds are often designed to prioritize ease of catching the ball and high launch, which can lead to problems such as hooks, ballooning shots, and loss of distance.
The GG FW directly addresses these issues by adopting a design that, while being a "run-type" shaft, suppresses tip behavior. This prevents excessive face turn at impact, making it easier for the face to align squarely, thereby significantly improving direction and consistency.
Its mid-trajectory design provides a good balance between carry and roll, ensuring plenty of roll with a strong descent angle. It achieves the high-level performance required of a fairway wood: "the ability to consistently hit the ball far forward."
Furthermore, it naturally achieves height without needing to force the ball up, which improves the sweet spot hit rate and contributes to increased initial ball speed. It also pairs well with high-restitution heads, making it recommended for golfers who want to maximize their distance performance.
