True Temper AMT TOUR WHITE wedge shafts are designed based on Ascending Mass Technology. This technology is engineered so that the weight increases by 3-gram increments throughout the set, providing a consistent swing from long irons to short wedges. This ensures stable performance regardless of the club number.
AMT TOUR WHITE is adjusted to match the balance point of Dynamic Gold, designed to ensure consistent swing weight. This results in smoother play with each club and improved swing stability. Additionally, the AMT series is available in three flexes (R, S, X) to suit all golfers, allowing for optimal selection based on individual head speed.
The recommended head speeds are 35-42m/s for R flex, 40-48m/s for S flex, and 46m/s or more for X flex, accommodating a wide range of golfers. Players of any skill level can achieve ideal shots with the shaft that suits them best.
An "iron combo set" simply means a club setup that combines different iron models within a single set.
While it was once common to use the same model from 5-iron to PW, in recent years, a trend has emerged among tour professionals to use:
"Easier-to-hit long to mid-irons, and short irons focused on workability."
1. Why are "combo sets" so popular?
There are two main reasons:
The evolution of ball performance and changes in green conditions.
Increased difficulty of long irons
Modern golf balls have evolved to reduce spin in order to increase distance.
As a result, with traditional muscle-back (01 series) long irons, even professional head speeds can struggle to launch the ball high enough, and insufficient spin often makes it difficult for the ball to hold the green.
Role shift from "distance" to "stopping power"
For professionals, long irons (4-5 iron) are not just about gaining distance.
They are clubs used to target the pin with a high trajectory and stop the ball firmly on the green.
Therefore, there's a growing trend to combine forgiving models with thicker soles or hollow structures for long to mid-irons.
2. What if you combine with PRGR? Recommended combo
PRGR's 01-02 series is actually a lineup that makes combo setups very easy to build.
Classic Athlete Combo: 01 × 02
・4-6 Iron: 02 IRON (easy to hit high and long)
・7 Iron-PW: 01 IRON (emphasis on workability and feel)
Key Points
Given that the 7-iron of the 01 (32° loft) is combined with the 6-iron of the 02 (28°),
the loft progression is natural, and with little difference in feel, a seamless combo setup is possible.
