Brand Story
If there are 100 players, 100 different shafts are needed.
That is Fujikura's fitting philosophy.
Fujikura Rubber Co., Ltd. (Fujikura) was founded in 1901. Starting with the manufacturing of rubber products, they began manufacturing carbon golf shafts in 1974. Fujikura's main shaft series is the "Speeder" series. In particular, the "Speeder EVOLUTION" series, which began sales in 2014, has become a very popular shaft that boasts the top share in the domestic women's tour for the past few years, winning the No. 1 usage rate in the 2014 season. Even on the men's tour, with the introduction of the "Speeder Evolution," its reputation has been excellent, with winners emerging. It has even attracted attention from players who had previously shown no interest.
Features of "TRAVIL Iron"
・Introducing a new iron shaft that focuses on the landing angle, an essential element for stopping the ball where you want it.
Through extensive testing by numerous tour professionals, we have successfully commercialized a product with high levels of both landing angle and feel.
By compositing carbon, metal, and rubber, we precisely control the smooth feel and snap back.
Gain a trajectory that allows you to aim from above.
・The landing angle is an important factor for stopping the ball where you want it.
In addition to spin rate and launch angle, it is one of the factors that has become clear with the spread of trajectory measurement devices in recent years.
Tour professionals emphasize landing angle in their approach shots to the green.
What kind of shaft is needed to aim from above?
That's where the development of TRAVIL began.
・Through repeated testing at tournament venues with many domestic male and female tour players, we narrowed down over 30 prototypes.
Compared to the clubs used, the landing angle increased by an average of 1.1 degrees, and we decided to commercialize the one with the best feel.
・Adopting Tour Ability Structure, while suppressing rigidity at the grip end and increasing rigidity at the tip, the shaft's stickiness enhances head operability, leading to the birth of a shaft that allows for a gentle attack angle to "aim and stop the ball on the green."
<PRGR Iron Strongest Combo>
An "iron combo set" simply refers to a club setup that combines different models of irons within a single set.
While it used to be common to "use the same model from 5-iron to PW," in recent years, among tour pros,
"Long to mid-irons for ease of use, short-irons for operability."
This differentiation of use has become mainstream.
1. Why is the "combo set" popular?
There are two main reasons.
These are "the evolution of ball performance" and "changes in green conditions."
Increased difficulty of long irons
Modern golf balls are evolving to reduce spin in order to improve distance performance.
As a result, with conventional muscle-back (01 series) long irons, it is becoming increasingly difficult for the ball to get airborne even with a professional's head speed, and insufficient spin makes it harder to stop on the green.
Change in role from "distance" to "stopping"
For professionals, long irons (4-5 iron) are not just about gaining distance.
They are clubs for aiming at the pin with a high trajectory and stopping firmly on the green.
Therefore, for long to mid-irons,
There is an increasing trend to combine highly forgiving models that adopt designs with thicker soles or hollow structures.
2. If you're building with PRGR? Recommended Combos
PRGR's 01-02 series actually offers a lineup that is very easy to combine into combo settings.
Classic Athlete Combo: 01 × 02
・4-6 iron: 02 IRON (easy to hit for high trajectory and distance)
・7-iron to PW: 01 IRON (emphasizes operability and feel)
Points
Since the 7-iron of the 01 (loft 32°) is combined with the 6-iron of the 02 (28°),
The loft progression is natural, and a combo setting with minimal difference in feel and no discomfort is possible.
