＜PRGR Iron Strongest Combo＞
Simply put, an "iron combo set" is a setup that combines different iron models within a single set.
It used to be common to "use the same model from 5-iron to PW," but in recent years, it has become mainstream among tour pros to
"use forgiving long to mid-irons and control-oriented short irons."
1. Why are "combo sets" so popular?
There are two main reasons.
These are "the evolution of ball performance" and "changes in green conditions."
Increased difficulty of long irons
Modern golf balls have evolved to suppress spin in order to improve distance performance.
As a result, with conventional muscle-back (01 series) long irons, it is becoming increasingly common for pros' swing speeds to make it difficult for the ball to get airborne and for insufficient spin to prevent the ball from stopping on the green.
Role change from "distance" to "stopping"
For professionals, long irons (4-5 iron) are not merely clubs for gaining distance.
