We have expanded and renewed the specifications of Diamana™ Thump™ FW/Hybrid/Iron. The long-selling Diamana™ Thump series has been reborn with a rich black painted cosmetic. Furthermore, in consideration of the trend toward lighter weight, we have added an 80g-range option to the iron specifications, emphasizing flow in the overall setting.
"Combo set of irons" simply means a club setup that combines different iron models within a single set.
In the past, it was common to "match the same model from 5-iron to PW," but in recent years, even among tour pros, the trend is:
"Easy to hit long to mid irons, and emphasis on workability for short irons."
1. Why are "combo sets" popular?
There are two main reasons:
They are "the evolution of ball performance" and "changes in green conditions."
Increased difficulty of long irons
Modern golf balls have evolved to suppress spin to increase distance performance.
As a result, with conventional muscle-back (01 series) long irons, even professional head speeds struggle to get the ball airborne, and there are increasing cases where spin is insufficient, making it difficult for the ball to stop on the green.
Role change from "distance" to "stopping"
For pros, long irons (4-5 iron) are not just for gaining distance.
They are clubs for attacking the pin with a high trajectory and stopping the ball firmly on the green.
Therefore, for long to mid irons, there is an increasing trend to combine highly forgiving models that employ designs with thicker soles and hollow structures.
